Judith Barsi (1978-1988) was a film and television actress from the 1980s whose most famous role was the voice of the charming Ducky in the animated film THE LAND BEFORE TIME (1988), a role she herself named as her favorite of a tragically short career. Unfortunately THE LAND BEFORE TIME would be one of the last roles of her life. Her father was an alcoholic and regularly abused her, both physically and mentally. This abuse took its toll on Judith who broke down in an audition for ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN. Sadly, she was never removed from her father’s care and after years of threats, her father ultimately murdered her and her mother when she was only ten years old. I, like most who stumble upon Judith’s tragic story, was heartbroken by the waste of precious life. To discover such a painful back-story to one of the truly happy memories of my childhood was a complete shock. Although very little can be done for her now, FOR JUDITH is my humble attempt at a tribute to her memory.
